A Quiet Place scares up the top spot at the Weekend Box Office | April 6-8, 2018

After a series of recent misses and slow starts, Paramount Pictures finally has a solid hit on their hands. Horror/thriller A Quiet Place opened at the box office with a solid $50 million at the domestic box office. The film also opened in several international markets and added another $21 million to the film’s worldwide cume. Paramount’s last two releases of 2018 Annihilation and Sherlock Gnomes failed to attract audiences in theatres with both films sitting around $30 million total so far this year.

Taking in the second spot was Warner Bros.’ Ready Player One which took in another $25.1 million in its second weekend. The film is now just shy of $100 million domestically and has already cleared nearly $300 million internationally. Universal’s Blockers opened in the #3 spot with an estimated $21.4 million.

Rounding out the top five was Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther which is still going strong at #4 with $8.4 million, and I Can Only Imagine from Roadside Attractions which took in another $8.3 million.

Next week will see two big wide releases in action/adventure Rampage from Warner Bros. as well as the thriller Truth or Dare from Universal.

1 | A Quiet Place (Paramount) $50.0 mil
2 | Ready Player One (Warner Bros.) $25.1 mil
3 | Blockers (Universal) $21.4 mil
4 | Black Panther (Disney) $8.4 mil
5| I Can Only Imagine (Roadside Attractions) $8.4 mil
