Disney and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame once again took the top spot at the weekend box office with another estimated $145.8 million domestically. That brings the domestic cume to $619.7 million in just over one week and the worldwide haul to an astounding $2.188 billion. The film is now the second highest grossing film worldwide surpassing Paramount’s Titanic from 1997 at $2.187 billion. The number one film worldwide in total gross still stands with 20th Century Fox’s Avatar from 2009. That film has a total worldwide cume of $2.78 billion. The last Avengers film, Infinity War, sits in the fifth spot with $2.048 billion. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the fourth highest with $2.068 billion.
Opening in second place was Screen Gem’s The Intruder. The thriller opened with an estimated $11 million at the box office. LionsGate’s Long Shot opened in third spot with $10 million while STX Entertainment’s animated film Uglydolls opened with $8.5 million.
Rounding out the top five was Disney / Marvel’s Captain Marvel with another $4.3 million.

Opening next weekend sees Pokémon: Detective Pikachu hitting theatres. The highly anticipated film from Warner Bros. has been getting mostly positive reviews. Also hitting theatres are the comedy The Hustle from United Artists as well as the comedy Poms from STX Entertainment.
