Avengers holds top spot while Detective Pikachu runner up in Weekend Box Office

Avengers: Endgame took the top spot at the weekend box office for the third straight weekend adding another $63.1 million domestically.

Opening in second place was the highly anticipated Pokémon Detective Pikachu, which many had thought might open with a strong enough opening to unseat Avengers. While it didn’t open as strong the film opened with a solid $58.0 million over the weekend. The film also opened to $112.4 million international opening to give the film $170.4 million worldwide so far.

Opening in third place was United Artits’ The Hustle with an estimated $13.5 million. That was followed up with last The Intruder from Screen Gems with $6.6 million and LionsGate’s Long Shot with another $6.1 million.

Next week will see the drama A Dog’s Journey from Universal open in theatres as well as the action film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum from LionsGate/Summit. Warner Bros. will also open the drama film The Sun is also a Star.
