20th Century Fox’s drama The Mountain Between Us debuted in the second place spot with $10.1 million while the top five stronghold It took the third place spot with another $9.6 million.
Animated feature from Lionsgate My Little Pony: The Movie debuted in the fourth spot with an soft $8.8 million. The film has only seen very limited international release so the global number has room for improvement.
Rounding out the top five is action flick Kingsman: The Golden Circle took in another $8.1 million to land in the fifth place spot. Including international cumes the film has generated $253.5 million worldwide since release a few weeks ago.
Next weekend sees a few releases for Friday the 13th including the action thriller The Foreigner from STX Entertainment as well as horror film Happy Death Day. Open Road Films will also open the drama film Marshall on Friday.
