The Upside from STX Entertainment debuted at #1 at the box office over the weekend. The film opened with an estimated $19.6 million at the box office. Last week’s top film Aquaman dropped to the number two spot with another estimated $17.3 million. The film from Warner Bros. and DC Films has now surpassed $1 billion worldwide.
Opening in the third spot was Sony’s family film A Dog’s Way Home which debuted with an estimated $11.3 million. Sony’s animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse finished its fifth weekend with another $9 million to bring the films domestic cume to 147.7 million while another Sony picture, Escape Room, dropped to the #5 spot with another $8.9 million.
Falling out of the top five was Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns with an estimated $7.2 million bringing that film to $287.9 million globally as well as Paramount’s Bumblebee film with another $6.8 million. The Transformers prequel now has a worldwide cume of $364.8 million.

Wednesday will see the limited release of the drama The Heiresses while Universal’s superhero thriller Glass from M. Night Shyamalan will hit theatres on Friday.
