Incredibles 2 breaks records at the Weekend Box Office | June 15-17, 2018

Disney/Pixar’s hugely anticipated sequel Incredibles 2 broke records and opened atop the weekend box office with an estimated $180 million over the weekend. The film topped the previous opening weekend for an animated film set two years ago by Disney’s Finding Dory with $135 million. The opening is the eighth largest opening of all-time, just ahead of the $179.1 million opening for Captain Americ: Civil War in 2016.

Coming in the number two spot was Warner Bros.’ Ocean’s 8 in its sophomore weekend. The caper flick earned another $19.6 million for just shy of $80 million in two weeks. Warner’s debut film Tag also took in $14.6 million to open in the #3 spot.

Disney’s Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story took the #4 spot in its fourth weekend. The film has now taken in $192.8 million so far. Superhero flick Deadpool 2 from 20th Century Fox added another $8.8 million to its domestic gross in fifth place. The film has now earned an estimated $294 million domestically and $689.5 million worldwide.

Next weekend’s big opening is Universal’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which hits theatres on Friday.
