IT Chapter 2 scares up a Weekend Box Office win

Warner Bros. / New Line Cinema’s It: Chapter 2 took the top spot at the weekend box office with an estimated $91.0 million domestically. Including international receipts of $94 million the film took in an estimated $185 million worldwide in It’s debut weekend. The opening was a bit behind the original film which opened at $123 million and went on to rake in more than $700 million worldwide.

Last week’s top three films landed in spots 2-5 over the weekend. Lionsgate’s Angel Has Fallen, which was the top film over the last two weekends, slipped to second place with another $6.0 million. That was followed up with Universal’s Good Boys which took in another $5.4 million, followed up by Disney’s live action remake of The Lion King with another $4.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was Overcomer which earned another $3.8 million.

Next weekend will see the drama The Goldfinch from Warner Bros. hit theatres as well as the drama Hustlers from STX Entertainment.\
