It stays atop the Weekend Box Office | September 15-17, 2017

Stephen King’s It continued to dominate at the domestic box office over the weekend with the thriller taking in another $60 million. The film has a domestic gross of nearly $219 million since its release last week.

New release American Assassin from Lionsgate debuted at #2 over the weekend with $14.8 million. The other new wide release in Paramount’s mother! didn’t fare so well with a soft $7.5 million opening. The film is the lowest opening for a film ever to star Jennifer Lawrence. Including international cumes the film has only picked up about $13.5 million in it’s release weekend.

Rounding out the top five were Open Road Films’ Home Again with $5.3 million and Lionsgate’s Hitman’s Bodyguard with another $3.5 million.

Next weekend will see a trio of wide releases including the horror film Friend Request. 20th Centry Fox will release the action comedy sequel Kingsman The Golden Circle and Warner Bros. debuts the latest LEGO movie with The LEGO Ninjago Movie opening.
