MOVIE REVIEW: The Davefather vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of The Shadows

You mean recall that I hated the first remake of the Ninja Turtles a few years back, heck I even placed it number 1 on my worst movies of the year list. I found Michael Bay’s continued plan to ruin my childhood to be outrageous and the film in question to be way too silly, way to stupid and way to ugly to enjoy, even if I have been a life long Turtles fan up till now.

Well I am happy to say that I think Michael Bay and company may have taken what we said seriously. In this sequel Bay actually tones down the over the top silly antics of the turtles and actually lets them shine a bit more in the action side of things. Of course this is still a Michael Bay production so the action is endlessly over the top and rather surprisingly rather boring this time around. Maybe he listened to us too much?

Actually if it wasn’t for such a completely out of place and just plain stupid final 30 minutes of the film, I might have had a bit more affection for this film. I like the introduction of Casey Jones into the universe and Rock Steady and Bebop finally making their appearances was kind okay as well (one played by WWE Superstar Sheamus gets extra points from me). The turtle van which now shoots out sewer lids was actually kinda cool as well.

However the introduction to the heavily CGI based villain Krang, a robot like creature with what appears to be brain in his stomach, is where things go south for this movie. This leads to the final 30 minutes, which takes place on like space ship sorta thing, and its all just too much for me to handle.

So kudos for Bay for actually listening to the complaints made about the first film and working on that a bit. It wasn’t a total success but I do give credit for the effort.

Maybe next time you can get the whole movie right!
