Netflix ups prices in February 2019

The cost of the Standard plan (2 screens at a time + HD) will change to $13.99 a month. This change takes effect Monday, February 11th, 2019. This is an increase of $3.00 a month for this tier which was priced at $10.99 until this month.

Why does Netflix change prices? According to Netflix their plans and pricing may occasionally be adjusted as we add more TV shows and movies, introduce new product features, and find other ways to improve the Netflix experience. They also may adjust plans and pricing to respond to local market changes, such as changes to local taxes or inflation.

The streaming giant has faced increased competition in Canada with the availability of Amazon Prime Video and the expansion of Crave in Canada which has added The Movie Network premium cable channel (rebranded Crave) to the ad-hoc service.

The price of the Basic plan, which allows you to watch on 1 screen at a time in Standard Definition. Download videos on 1 phone or tablet will change to $9.99/month in February. The standard plan, which lets you watch on 2 screens at a time in HD and download videos on 2 phones or tablets will up to $13.99/month

The premium plan allows you to watch on 4 screens at a time in HD and Ultra HD available. You can download videos on 4 phones or tablets will change to $16.99/month.
