Netflix has a new animated comedy series on the way. The new series Tuca & Bertie is about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (Tiffany Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Ali Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird.
The look of the show is unmistakable and comes from the creative team behind BoJack Horseman.
Lisa Hanawalt created the series, which consists of 10-episodes for its first season. Hanawalt is an executive producer alongside Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman), Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman, Friends), Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Jack & Bobby), Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong.
I’m a huge fan of the far out and fearless comedy of BoJack Horseman and, with the comedy chops behind the creators and the voice talents of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, this show is likely to follow suit.
The animated comedy premieres on the streaming service on May 3rd.
