No longer Fresh, 95.3 is now full of Energy

On-air personalities Scott Tucker and Maura Grierson make their return to morning radio today, as their new show Tucker and Maura in the Morning kicks off the relaunch of local radio brand Energy 95.3. Serving Greater Toronto and Hamilton, Energy 95.3 (formerly 95.3 Fresh Radio) returns to the region after an absence of nearly two decades as the home of Today’s Best Music, playing the biggest songs from the best pop artists in the world.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the Energy radio brand back to Toronto and Hamilton, and introduce a new generation of listeners to a true cultural staple,” said Brad Phillips, VP and Head of FM Radio, Corus Entertainment. “To have a high-quality morning show team like Tucker and Maura to launch with is a dream come true; their proven results, experience, and energy make them a perfect fit.”

The last time the station was branded Energy was after a frequently swap with sister station CJXY-FM, now known as Y108. The station changed its branding from Energy 108 to Energy Radio. CING-FM was subsequently rebranded Country 95.3, Vinyl 95.3, and most recently Fresh 95.3.

In addition to Tucker and Maura, local favourite Colleen Rusholme returns to the airwaves to host afternoon drive from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. ET.

Energy 95.3’s full on-air lineup is as follows:

  • Tucker and Maura in the Morning – 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Emily Szabo – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Colleen Rusholme – 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tucker and Maura at 6 – 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Featuring highlights from the morning’s Tucker & Maura show
  • Dave Blezard – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

    Hello:

I was disappointed to learn that Darren and Colleen no longer host the morning show. They made me want to move to Hamilton when I retire. I see Colleen is still around, what happened to Darren Laidman, thanks very much.
I have listened to the new people, and they aren’t as good, they are a bit boring, whereas the others made me laugh on the way to work, a nice way to start the day. I think you will regret this move. Please get back to me, thanks.

    • Nancy,
I couldn’t agree more! Darren and Colleen and producer Sam made the mornings fun and jovial. They had an unbelievable chemistry on air. I work nights and listening to them on the way home in the mornings was always very entertaining and something to look forward to!
The mind grind, no filter Friday’s, and Darren’s frustration when callers would have a bad phone connection (while Colleen and Sam laughed) will sorely be missed. I wish the new crew the best of luck, but I’m afraid that Darren, Colleen and Sam set the bar too high to compete.
      Xo
