ViacomCBS has announced that the Paramount+ Streaming Service will launch on March 4th. Paramount+ will be available in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, with the Nordics and Australia to follow.
ViacomCBS’ existing subscription video-on-demand and live streaming service, CBS All Access, is being rebranded as Paramount+ as part of the service’s expansion to feature content from ViacomCBS’ leading portfolio of broadcast, news, sports, and entertainment brands.
ViacomCBS will also bring Paramount+ to international markets with initial debuts in Latin America on March 4, 2021; the Nordics on March 25, 2021; and Australia in mid-2021.
As is usually the case with Canadian equivalents to American services, the Canadian version of CBS All Access is missing a lot of the content of the American streaming service. However in the statement it was mentioned that the CBS All Access service in Canada will be rebranded to Paramount+ on March 4th, 2021, and an expanded offering will be available later in the year.
Hopefully that means that the Nickelodeon, MTV, and Paramount Pictures feature film content, that is currently missing in Canada, will be added to Paramount+.
Also announced is that the delayed movie The Spongebob Squarepants Movie: Sponge on the Run will premiere as well on Paramount+ on March 4th. The movie will also be available for rent. The SpongeBob prequel series will also premiere on Paramount+ on March 4th.
