Spider-Man comes home with top marks at the Weekend Box Office | July 7-9, 2017

The latest reboot and merging of Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinimatic Universe landed the webslinger at the top of the weekend box office in his debut. Spider-Man: Homecoming snatched the top spot with an estimated $117 million over the weekend. The film also opened to another $140 internationally.

Last week’s top film Despicable Me 3 from Universal Pictures dropped to second spot with an estimated $33.9 million. In two weeks the animated feature has nearly racked up $150 million domestically and another almost $300 million internationally.

Tri-Star’s Baby Driver raced to the third spot at the North American box office with $12.7 million. The film was the #2 film last weekend.

Rounding out the top five are Warner Bros. Wonder Woman which continues to command at the box office. The film earned another $10.1 million and has generated approximately $745 million worldwide so far. The fifth film in the spot is the fifth Transformers film Transformers: The Last Knight from Paramount. The film took in another $6.3 million in its third weekend.

The upcoming weekend will see the release of the anticipated War for the Planet of the Apes from 20th Century Fox.
