SpongeBob set to bow August 14th in Canadian theatres

With movie theaters slowly reopening in Canada, Paramount Canada has slated The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On the Run for theaters in Canada on August 14th.

The animated feature was originally slated to open for May 22nd. After the pandemic shut down theatres the release was shifted to August 7th before being removed from the release calendar all together. The film is now slated to release stateside sometime in 2021 on premium video on demand and eventually CBS All Access.

SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom hit the big screen in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event. After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.

Paramount has moved Top Gun: Maverick to July 2nd, 2021 and A Quiet Place Part II to April 23rd, 2021.
