Star Trek: Lower Decks’ First Trailer show promise in funny premise

After revealing a poster for the upcoming series, including a first look at the starship in the series, CBS All Access has unveiled the first video of the show in a series trailer.

CBS All Access recently announced its new half-hour animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks will premiere on Thursday, August 6th. Following the premiere, new episodes of the series’ 10-episode first season will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays, exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in the U.S.

In Canada the series will air on CTV Sci-Fi Channel and on Crave.

The series follows the misadventures of a crew of starship support staff who aren’t exactly the crew’s A team but are important none the less.

Previous Star Trek series have had episodes here or there which would focus on other members of the crew other than the main cast. However these were few and far between.

The series is animated and from the team behind Rick and Morty. And while the series does seem to inject some of that humour it looks like it will fit in nicely with the rest of canon. We’ve. Already seen Borg in the trailer.

I’m hoping for some fun nods and references to other Star Trek series.
