20th Century Fox’s The Predator didn’t drum up much business at the domestic box office over the weekend and debuted with an underwhelming $24 million. While the film debuted atop the box office, The Predator has a budget of $88 million so it’s a hill to climb out of the gate. That being said the film did perform better in international markets with the film picking up another $30.7 million for a global open of $54.7 million.
Warner/New Line’s The Nun dropped to second spot in it’s sophomore weekend with another $18.2 million. The film has generated $85 million in two weeks on a budget of $22 million, the polar opposite of The Predator.
Debuting in the number 3 and 4 spots respectively were Lionsgate’s A Simple Favour with $16.1 million and Studio 8’s White Boy Rick with an estimated $8.8 million. Rounding out the top five was Warner Bros.’ Crazy Rich Asians with an estimated $8.7 million. The film has taken in an $149.5 million domestically.
