Toy Story 4 repeats atop the Weekend Box Office; Spider-Man opens Tuesday

Disney / Pixar’s Toy Story 4 topped the weekend box office for the second straight week over the weekend. The latest sequel picked up another $58 million domestically and has now topped $236 million. Including international receipts the film has a worldwide cume of $496.5 million.

Opening in second place was Warner Bros / New Line Cinema’s horror sequel Annabelle Comes Home. The flick took in an estimated $20.4 million in its opening weekend. Including Wednesday and Thursday numbers the film has a domestic haul of $31.2 million so far. The film has also picked up an additional $45 million internationally. The opening was the softest of the three films in the series. The original opened with $35 million and ended its run at $102 million while the sequel opened with a higher $37.1 million and a $84 million final tally.

The number three film was the musical film featuring Beatles music in Yesterday. The film opened with an estimated $17 million.

Rounding out the top five was Disney’s Aladdin remake with another $9.3 million and Universal’s animated The Secret Life of Pets 2 with another $7.1 million.

Opening this week is the hugely anticipated Spider-Man: Far from Home from Sony / Columbia Pictures and Marvel. The film will open officially on Wednesday but will actually open on Tuesday morning. Everyone else is (wisely) staying clear of the weekend with no other wide releases scheduled.
