Transformers tops the Weekend Box Office | June 23-25, 2017

Paramount’s fifth film in the Transformers franchise Transformers: The Last Knight topped the weekend box office with a tally of $45.3 million. Including the full five day release the film has generated $69.1 million so far. The opening is less than half the take of the previous film in the series three years ago and is the lowest opening of the franchise so far. Internationally the film had a solid opening with just shy of $200 million overseas. Worldwide the film has earned an estimated $265 million so far.

In second place is the top film from last week Cars 3 took the second spot with an estimated $25.2 million. Warner Bros.’ superhero epic Wonder Woman continues to impress with another $25.1 million over the weekend. Wonder Woman has netted approximately $652 million worldwide since its release four weeks ago.

Two smaller releases 47 Meters Down from Entertainment Studios landed in the fourth spot with $7.4 million while LionsGate film All Eyez on Me debuted with $5.6 million at fifth spot.

Coming up Sony’s action film Baby Driver hits theatres on Wednesday while Universal’s Despicable Me 3 lands in theatres on Friday.
