Barton Village Festival looking to Open Streets for 2017 event

The upstart Barton Village Festival is looking to grow and expand this year. The festival, now in its third year in the Barton Village BIA, is partnering with Open Streets Hamilton to bring some of the same feel and freedom to Barton Street.

Barton Village Festival is a free family festival with several stages featuring local entertainment, children’s activities, and a variety of vendors. The festival has been held annually for two years, with great success and support.

Festival organizers and the Barton Village BIA in cooperation with Open Streets Hamilton have requested the temporary closure of Barton Street between Wentworth and Birch on Saturday June 24th, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for the Barton Village Festival Open Streets Event. The road closure will provide the space required for the event which includes vendors, arts, music and active transportation promotional education and activities.

The festival itself will take place between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM on June 24th.

The organizers are holding a public information session at 541 Eatery on April 10th at 7:30pm.

The road closure application, which city staff recommend be approved, will go before the Public Works Committee on Monday morning.
