The City of Hamilton is looking for nominations to recognize the many dedicated sports volunteers in the Hamilton community at the 31st Annual Sport Volunteer Appreciation Banquet.
The City of Hamilton Annual Sport Volunteer Appreciation Banquet honours volunteers who give their time and energy to sports in Hamilton. Coaches, officials and administrative volunteers with 10 or more years of serving our sport community can be nominated annually.
“Amateur sport plays a crucial role in our community and for youth development, volunteers provide the energy and resource to sustain sports programming,” said Fred Eisenberger, Mayor of Hamilton. “I’m proud of the dedicated volunteer coaches and mentors who offer so much of their time.”
There are five main categories for the Sport Volunteer Awards including:
- Distinguished Adult Sport Volunteer Awards
- Distinguished Youth Sport Volunteer Awards
- Major Sport Volunteer Awards
- Dr. Gene Sutton Club Excellence Award
- City of Hamilton Sport Hero Banner Series
The deadline for nomination a sports volunteer is June 1st, 2017. An appreciation banquet to celebrate the contributions of the nominees and award finalists is being planned for September 21, 2017 at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s.
