Public invited to review proposed park designs for John Rebecca Park

The City of Hamilton is hosting a public meeting tomorrow to review proposed designs for the new development of John Rebecca Park. Residents are invited to attend the open house and provide feedback on the proposed designs for the park.

The master plan process for John Rebecca Park was completed in 2012. Development of the site was under consideration along with the review of the Downtown Secondary Plan. With this process now complete, the City will be moving forward with detail design of the site in 2018 in preparation for construction in 2019.

Located in the Beasley neighbourhood, the park is slated for development in the area bound by John St N, Rebecca St, Catharine St N, and King William St. The proposed plan for the site includes a water feature and a spash pad/skating area.

The block is currently home to a large surface parking lot as well as two businesses. Club 77 is located on the southeast corner of the block while Lulu’s Shawarma is located on the southwest corner of the block.

The community meeting will take place at the Beasley Community Centre at 145 Wilson Street. The meeting is open to the general public between 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a formal presentation at 7:00 pm.
