Mohawk Loses Second Straight Men’s Basketball Test in BC

The Mohawk men’s basketball team dropped to 0-2 on their west coast exhibition swing, losing 85-69 to the Vancouver Island University Mariners in Nanaimo BC Friday (Dec. 29).
The Mariners, ranked number two in the nation, led 45-25 at half time over the unranked Mountaineers.
Midway through the third quarter the hosts opened up a 29 point lead (59-30), but Mohawk kept plugging away and very late in the game got the deficit down to 11 points (80-69). However they  could not get closer.
Former McMaster player, Rommel Calura, led the Mountaineers with 20 points. Neil Santos collected 11 and Braedon Lenters got 10 points.
Mohawk will complete its BC trip with another game against VIU Saturday at 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
