Province issues ‘Radiological Emergency Alert’ in error

Shortly before 7:30am today an Emergency Alert was issued province wide about a radiological incident in Pickering, Ontario. That alert seems to have been issued in error.

After more than half an hour of non-information, Ontario Power Generation issued a brief tweet that the alert was an error and that there was no danger to the public.

Government sources have told Global News Toronto that there was a circuit breaker issue which caused the faulty alert. OPG has stated that they have no communication staff on duty today to speak with the media regarding the incident and all information requests need to be submitted via email.
