In a continuing effort to repair the city’s roadways after damage caused by another tough winter, crews will commence emergency resurfacing work on the eastbound lanes of Main Street W beginning on Tuesday, March 6th at 7pm.
The eastbound lanes of Main Street W between Cootes Drive and the Highway 403 ramps near Newton Avenue will receive a “shave and pave” treatment, where the top two inches of the existing pavement is milled away and new asphalt is put back on top.
“Thank you to residents and motorists for your patience as staff work to repair asphalt badly damaged by this winter’s extreme weather fluctuations,” stated Mayor Fred Eisenberger in a release. “We are continuing to take immediate and longer term steps to alleviate and repair this serious issue.”
Crews will begin their work in the two curb lanes at Cootes Drive, moving eastbound toward the 403. The work on the eastbound lanes is expected to be complete by Friday, March 16th, pending weather conditions.
Motorists and HSR customers on routes 1A KING, 5 DELAWARE, 51 UNIVERSITY, and 10 B-LINE EXPRESS may experience delays in the area.
