Yanek Weber scored the deciding goal leading the Bulldogs to a 5-2 victory over the Senators.
In the first “home away from home” game of the season the Bulldogs hosted the Binghampton Senators from the Bell Centre in Montreal, home to parent NHL franchise the Montréal Canadiens.
Hamilton opened up the scoring in the first as Mathieu Carle, scoring his fourth goal of the season, sent it passed Lehner at 11:45. The Bulldogs would hold onto the lead until 3:51 in the second period when Binghampton got on the board with a goal by Jim O’Brien. The Bulldogs would answer back minutes later with Ryan White scoring his first of the season at 6:54, assisted by Ben Maxwell and Alex Henry. After the second period the Bulldogs held onto a lead of 2-1.
Just 1:25 into the third period Binghampton would once again tie the game with Andre Benoit scoring his first of the season on a power play. Scoring would remain tied until ten minutes later when Yannick Weber retook the lead. Weber scored the go ahead goal at 12:28 into the third making this this his team leading seventh goal of the season. Aaron Palushaj and Frederic St. Denis picked up assists.
Andreas Engqvist and David Desharnais picked up empty net goals at 19:28 and 19:53 respectively to finish of the Senators with a final score of 5-2 in favour of the Hamilton Bulldogs. This extends the Bulldogs winning streak to five games and point streak to nine. The ‘Dogs have not lost a game in regulation since October 19th and have extended their lead of the North Division (7-1-1-2).
The Bulldogs have a few days off to prep for their next contest when they visit the Lake Erie Monsters Wednesday November 10th at 10:45am at the Quicken Loans Arena. The game can be heard on 820 CHAM radio online. The Bulldogs and Senators will meet next at the “home away from home” rematch when the Senators will host the Bulldogs from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
