Jacob Delisle and his Mohawk men’s rink pasted the Humber Hawks 7-1 in the fourth draw of the OCAA Curling Championships presented by belairdirect, in Sault Ste. Marie, Friday (Feb. 9).
Already ahead 2-1 through four ends, the Mountaineers scored two in the fifth end, stole a pair in the sixth and then a single in the seventh end.
With the win, Mohawk evened its record at 2-2.
Meanwhile, Alexandria Nunes and her Mountaineer women’s rink, coming off a bye, had their record go to 0-3, thanks mainly to one bad end. Mohawk had leads of 3-2 and 5-4, but the Fleming Knights exploded for five in the sixth end and went on to a 10-5 decision.
The fifth draw, which will be the last one of day two, will pit the Mohawk men against the Niagara Knights and the Mountaineer women against the St. Clair Saints.
The action gets under way at 5:00 pm.
