Ancaster Avalanche Girls Bantam BB don silver at OWHA provincials

The Ancaster Avalanche Girls Bantam BB were nearly undefeated at the 2017 Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincials over the weekend, coming away with a silver medal by the end of the weekend.

The girls came away with a perfect 3-0 record in the round robin of the tournament, letting in just two goals thru the three games while finding the back of the net a total of eleven times. Ancaster flew past Woodstock Wildcats 3-0, Orillia Hawks 5-1, and Guelph Jr Gryphons 3-1 on Friday and Saturday.

The Avalanche then went on to shut out the Ottawa Ice 4-0 in the quarter-final game on Saturday night and blank the Burlington Barracudas 2-0 in the semi-final match up on Sunday morning.

It wouldn’t be until the gold medal game of the provincials that Ancaster would be left scoreless as they were edged 1-0 in the gold medal game by the Huron Heat.

The Ancaster Avalanche Girls Peewee AA also took home silver medals at the tournament. The girls won all of their games up until the gold medal game where they were edged 2-1 by the Etobicoke Dolphins.
