The Ancaster Avalanche dropped a pair of games in the GOJHL Showcase in London over the weekend, being edged by the Chatham Maroons 5-4 on Saturday afternoon followed by a 10-6 loss to the Guelph Hurricanes on Sunday morning.
While the result of the game may not be in the Avs favour, putting up ten goals in two games is nothing to overlook either.
Jack Wismer scored a pair of goals for the Avalanche in Saturday’s game, scoring both the tieing and go ahead goals in the third period before Chatham evened the score and retook the lead in the last 90 seconds of the game.
Graydon James was the breakout performer in Sunday’s game with a natural hat trick, netting goals in all three periods. Ryan Knill and Jack Wismer each had three assists in the second game, with Knill adding an assist on Saturday.
The ten goals is a big improvement over the earlier preseason, which saw Ancaster only beat the opposing goaltender once per game.
The goals will really start to count starting Friday when the Avalanche visit the Pelham Panthers for their season opener. Ancaster will host their first home game of the regular season on Saturday night at 7:30pm from Morgan Firestone Arena when the Thorold Pirates come to town.
