Bell Media sent a shockwave through the radio media and sports landscape in Tuesday with the sudden format change and disruption of the TSN Radio stations, including TSN 1150 AM (CKOC-AM) in Hamilton. Hamilton’s sports radio station has also undergone a format change, adopting the BNN Bloomberg Radio format, which features a simulcast of BNN Bloomberg’s linear television broadcast, in addition to specialty programming from Bloomberg’s radio service and podcasts. The rebranded CKOC-AM joins Bell’s existing BNN Bloomberg Radio station in Vancouver.
Also stripped of TSN Radio branding were the stations in both Vancouver and Winnipeg.
“We are proud to broaden the scope of BNN Bloomberg Radio with this new station, and to deliver comprehensive business news coverage across an expanded slate of platforms, both locally in Hamilton and across the GTA, and nationally via iHeartRadio,” said Richard Gray, Regional General Manager, Eastern Region, Bell Media, in a release. “As markets continue to shift amid these challenging times, BNN Bloomberg continues to be the prime source of financial analysis and insight for Canada’s business leaders.”
The change came with no warning either as on air talent were promoting their upcoming programming of the day, which never happened.

A splash page on the former TSN1150 website has the statement, “We thank our listeners and our loyal partners for their commitment to us and look forward to continuing to build on those strong relationships.”
The TSN Radio brand is still being carried by Bell Media stations in Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
