Bengals come roaring back to defeat Mohawks 11-9

After being downed in game one of the OJBLL playoffs on Thursday night the ball was in the Bengals’ court on Monday night as the playoff series came to the the Dave Andreychuck Mountain Arena. And with the announcement earlier in the day that Dave Andreychuck, namesake of the arena and Hamilton hockey legend is among this year’s inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame, it was fitting that the Hamilton junior lacrosse team paid tribute with a victory tonight.

After a slow start in which the Bengals were held off the scoresheet for the first twenty minutes of the game the team took off in the second period. Down 4-0 after the first frame Hamilton outscored their opponents 8-2 through the middle twenty minutes

Sam Gower opened the scoring for Hamilton at 1:26 of the second period. Though the Elora Mohawks scored a pair of goals the Bengals were on fire. Tanner Brenneke, Trevor Barrett, and Jordan Gillis added goals while Sam English picked up a hat trick with three goals in the second period.

Jordan Gillis had a pair of goals and Yvon Bolduc likewise found the back of the net in an evenly matched in the third period as the Bengals went on to win the game 11-9.

Dylan Sprentz made 32 saves on 41 shots in goal for Hamilton in the win.

The Bengals will return to Elora on Tuesday night at 8:00 PM for game three of the best-of-five series before coming back to the “Dave” on Thursday night for game four. That game will kick off at 8:00 PM.
