The Hamilton Bengals netted win six in a row as they improve to 7-1 this season with a victory in St. Catharines Thursday night. The black and gold came away with a decisive 10-5 victory at the Thorold Community Arena.
The first period saw the Bengals get off to a late start on the score sheet, but also did a good job of keeping the Spartans off it as well. Tanner Brenneke scored three quick back-to-back goals in the last three minutes of the period to give Hamilton a 3-0 lead heading into intermission.
New addition to the roster Keegan Kahn opened the scoring in the second period for Hamilton as he scored his first goal in the stripes just 25 seconds into the period. Brenneke added a fourth goal midway thru the period and Luke Robinson netted his first of the game late in the period. Robinson now has 19 goals in seven games played this season.
St. Catharines turned things around in the second period and outscored the Bengals through the middle twenty minutes, netting four goals.
The final frame would be the opposite however as four Bengals stepped up with a goal each to push the Bengals to victory. Luke Robinson added his second of the game at 0:47 of the third, while Coltrane Tyson, Tye Argent, and Jack Travassos also found the back of the net.
The Hamilton Benagls jump into first place in the Mid West division with the victory at 14 points, one ahead of the Elora Mohawks. Hamilton also has the second highest win percentage with .875, second only to the always powerful Six Nation Rebels who are undefeated so far this season with a spotless 9-0 record. after a division realignment the Rebels and Bengals are no longer in the same division.
Next up the Bengals will continue on the road and will pay the Windsor Clippers a visit on Saturday night. The game should be a barn burner with Windsor. The Clippers have played two more games this season and have also racked up seven wins. The two teams will face off from Forest Glade beginning at 7:00pm.
