Bengals edged by Six Nations 9-8

The Hamilton Bengals hosted the undefeated Six Nations Rebels at The Dave on Thursday night looking to finally upend the powerhouse. While it looked like Hamilton would be the site of the Rebels first defeat of the season, a surge in the third period helped Six Nations remain unblemished as they edged the Bengals 9-8.

Hamilton got off to an early lead with four goals in the first period. Tanner Brenneke got the ball rolling with an early goal at 2:33 of the period while Luke Robinson, Ty Argent, and Hunter Aggus also netted markers.

After being stifled to just a single goal in the first period, Six Nations woke up and put on the pressure through the rest of the game. The second period was a back and forth affair with the Rebels outscoring the Bengals 5-3. Six Nations tied the game late in the third period, netting the game winning goal in the final two minutes.

With the loss the Bengals have dropped two in a row and now sit at 4-4. Hamilton’s next game takes place at the Dave Andreychuck Mountain Arena on Sunday afternoon when they host the Elora Mohawks. Game time is 3pm.
