Bengals set their sights on Elora in second round

After the Hamilton Bengals completed a sweep on Saturday night at the Dave as they defeated the Owen Sound North Stars 12-4, the Bengals are headed to the next round of the playoffs.

Hamilton will now set their sights on their next round opponent, which will come in the form of the Elora Mohawks. Elora finished the regular season with a 16-3 record and were the second place team in the Western Conference. Hamilton and Elora met exactly twice during the regular season, with both games going to overtime and both games ending with a 12-11 final.

The two teams split the games with one win a piece.

Looking purely at the stats and the Bengals have the edge on paper. Hamilton scores more goals per game, lets in fewer goals, is slightly better on the power play (Hamilton was the #1 team during the regular season), and they are the superior team on the penalty kill. Hamilton was third in the league during the regular season while Elora was 13th.

But with both regular season matchups between Hamilton and Elora coming right down to the wire, both teams will have something to prove when they meet.

Game #1 – Friday, July 5th @ 8:00pm – Hamilton at Elora (Elora Community Centre)
