Bengals win game 2 over Owen Sound

Hamilton are one game away from the quarter finals after a 15-7 victory in Owen Sound. The victory puts the Bengals ahead in the series 2-0 with the series moving back to the Hammer next Saturday.

Hamilton opened the scoring early in the first period thanks to a goal from Braedon Saris at 4:59. The goal was followed up with back to back goals from the home team. Brayden Krueger and Noah Rouse gave the fans in Owen Sound reason to cheer as they gave the North Stars the lead with goals at 7:33 and 8:25 of the opening period.

The Bengals responded with four back to back goals through the next ten minutes from Tanner Brennecke, Dawson Brown, Cooper Day-Allison, and another from Saris to pull ahead. Brandon Stewart added one final goal for the North Stars to end the period.

With Hamilton leading 5-3 after the first twenty minutes the second period followed the same pattern with the same number of goals coming though the middle twenty. Luke Robinson and Dawson Brown scored a pair of goals for the Bengals and Tyson Allison also found the back of the net. Luke Grimoldby netted a pair for the North Stars and Josh Hamill also lit the goal lamp.

Hamilton added another five goals through the final frame on their way to victory. Tye Argent, Ty English, Carter Schultz, Yvon Bolduc, and Day-Allison added goals for Hamilton. Brayden Krueger scored the final goal for Owen Sound in the third period.

Lucas Nagy made 28 saves on 35 shots on goal for Hamilton in goal.

The two teams will have the week off and will reconvene on Saturday night for the third game in the series. The teams will face off from the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena starting at 7:00pm.
