Two powerplay goals 28 seconds apart were the undoing for the Dundas Real McCoys as they fell 6-2 to the Brantford Blast in the opening game of the best-of-five Allan Cup Hockey Semifinal tonight in the JL Grightmire Arena.
The Blast scored three times on the powerplay to take a 4-2 lead three minutes into the middle period. Brantford scored four powerplay goals.
Next action for the two clubs is Sunday night at Brantford in the Civic Centre at 8 p.m.
Prior to the game, it was announced that the ACH league had named Dundas Coach Ron Bernacci, Coach of the Year. Justin DaSilva captured the Best Defenceman Award and Mackenzie Wood was named the Rookie of the Year.
Brad Bonello was the League’s scoring champion with 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 13 games.
For Brantford, Jordan Owens scored twice with Chris Lawrence adding a goal and an assist. Tim Kennedy, Nathan Pageau, and Andrew Radjenovic added single goals, while Scott Hotham and Chris Campoli assisted on two goals each. Bonello and Mark Bennett replied for Dundas.
