The Hamilton Bengals extended their unbeaten streak to nine games on Thursday night when they hosted the Welland Generals. The 17-5 win was also the team’s second in a row.
Hamilton came out blazing in the first period with five goals through the opening twenty minutes, all from different scorers. Coltrane Tyson found the back of the net first to break the ice for Hamilton, netting the opening goal at 4:15 of the period. That was quickly followed up with a goal from Welland’s Davis Shepherd to tie the game at one goal a piece. The teams would trade goals again in the next few minutes before the Bengals would break the game wide open.
By the time the buzzer sounded at the end of the second period the Bengals had gone on an eight goal run to leave the two period score at 10-3. With another seven goals in the third period the Hamilton Bengals soared to an easy 17-5 victory.
Tanner Brenneke had four goals on the night followed up by Luke Robinson who had a hat trick of his own. Tye Argent scored a pair while Michael Grace, Dawson Brown, Jacob Parkinson, Yvon Bolduc, Ken Sproat, Cooper Day-Allison, Coltrane Tyson, and Sam Gower also found the back of the net. Mitch Dunham made 30 saves on 35 shots in goal for the Bengals for the win.
Next up the Bengals will continue their homestead when they host the Owen Sound North Stars from the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena on Sunday. Face off is set for 3pm.
