Bronze medal win for MAC 14U Boys

Recently, the Mountain Athletic Club (MAC) 14U boys team travelled to Niagara College to compete in the 14U Boys Challenge Cup – Championship Division.

Seeded 4th for the day, the boys began pool play beating the Milton Edge 13U in straight sets (25-6, 25-7) and then succumbing to Niagara Rapids Legend in three sets (25-20, 23-25, 4-15). They finished their pool in second place, setting them up for the pre-quarter round facing off against fellow club team MAC 13U (25-23, 25-13).

Their quarter-final match up saw them pitted against Milton Razor Edge who they beat in straight sets (25-14, 25-23), earning them a place in the semi-final round against season rival Pakmen. They lost a tough three set match (12-25, 25-21, 13-15) and moved onto the bronze medal game, where they were once again matched against the Niagara Rapids who had handed them an earlier loss in pool play. However, this time the boys battled hard, beating the Rapids in straight sets (25-21, 25-20) to earn the bronze medal.

Team members include: Coen Raymond (Hamilton) Eden Cheifetz and William Siefker (West Hamilton), Coach Bob and Sam Rath (Waterdown), Gus Van Dasselaar, Jonathan Trikoupis, Dillan Morphet, Alex McKague, and Coaches Nick Trikoupis and Mark McKague (Ancaster), and Luka Stankovic (Stoney Creek).
