The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that they will be adding some Memorial Cup experience to their line-up. The ‘Dogs acquired defenseman TJ Fergus from the Erie Otters.
“TJ brings a winning attitude to our dressing room,” said Bulldogs President and GM Steve Staios. “He’s played a significant role and in big games his entire OHL career and has the ability to make the players around him better.”
Fergus has been a member of the Erie Otters the last three seasons and last season Fergus played in all 68 regular season games. He had 33 points and was a +54. In 2016-17, Fergus and the Otters claimed the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL Champions and went on to play in the 2017 Memorial Cup where they lost 4-3 to the Windsor Spitfires in the final.
TJ Fergus is expected to be in the line-up Saturday night when the Bulldogs open their 2017-2018 regular season against the Niagara IceDogs at FirstOntario Centre at 7:00 PM.
The Bulldogs sent the Otters a 3rd round draft pick in 2018, a conditional 5th round draft pick in 2020 and a conditional 6th round draft pick in 2020 in the acquisition. The 20-year old is a native of Oakville, ON and is the son of former NHL forward Tom Fergus.
