The Hamilton Bulldogs completed the 3-game weekend sweep with a 4-1 win over the North Bay Battalion Sunday afternoon at FirstOntario Centre.
The Bulldogs got off to a quick start as Mackenzie Entwistle snapped one home at the 56-second mark to give the home team a quick 1-0 lead. The Battalion got a power-play less than five minutes later and scored to tie the game 1-1.
Hamilton scored twice in the 2nd period to open up a 3-1 lead on goals from Marian Studenic and a power-play marker from Justin Lemcke.
A little added insurance came early in the 3rd period as Arthur Kaliyev found the puck at his feet in the blue paint to finish off the scoring 4-1 in favour of the Black and Gold.
Goalie Kaden Fulcher made 28 saves for his 29th win of the season as the Bulldogs out-shot the Battalion 30-29.
North Bay’s goal scorer was Adam Thilander.
With the three wins this weekend, the Bulldogs extend their lead atop the East Division to nine points over Kingston while Barrie remains seven points back of the Eastern Conference leaders from Hamilton.
The Bulldogs next game is Thursday March 1st on the road against the Niagara IceDogs before returning home to entertain Ottawa Friday March 2nd at 7:30 pm and Oshawa Saturday March 3rd at 7 pm at FirstOntario Centre.
