It was a genuine nail-biter as the Dundas Real McCoys held off a third period rally to edge the Brantford Blast 6-5 to stave elimination in the third Allan Cup Hockey semifinal game tonight in the JL Grightmire Arena.
Brantford scored three times in the final period, but could not overcome the 6-2 that Dundas has built through the first 40 minutes on play.
Brantford leads the best-of-five series 2-1 with the fourth game in the Brantford Civic Centre, Sunday (March 1st) at 8 p.m. The fifth game, if necessary, will be played in Dundas on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
Hamilton Steelhawks play the Whitby Dunlops tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. in the Iroquois Sports Centre. Hamilton leads the series 2-1 in games.
Ryan Watson led the Dundas scoring attack with three goals with single goals going to Jason Williams, Jason Pinizzotto, and Jake Goldberg. Kyle Nixon set up two of the Dundas goals.
For Brantford, Andrew Radjenovic scored twice and set up a third goal. Scott Hotham added a goal and an assist, while single goals went to Nathan Pageau and Rob Hisey.
Jordan Owens assisted on two of the Blast goals.
