Braydon White of Fanshawe College carded a one-under par 70 for a one stroke lead after the opening round of the OCAA Golf Championships at the FireRock Golf Club near London Monday Oct. 1).
The 54 hole event is being hosted by Fanshawe and another Falcon player, Thomas Code, is one stroke back, at even par.
It was a cold day with off and on rain, but conditions were not as bad as had been forecast.
Last year’s bronze medal winner, Nic Francis of Mohawk, shot seven over par 78, which leaves him some work to do. He is tied for 17th.

Fanshawe leads the men’s team event. Mohawk is in eighth place.
Mohawk had just one woman in the championship, but Amye Pellow had to withdraw after nine holes, because of injury.
Alyssa Stoddart of Fanshawe has a 10 shot lead in the women’s section, after shooting an 82.
Round two is set for Tuesday.
