Glanbrook grounds Riverhawks to remain undefeated

Garnet Batrynchuk netted the thrilling overtime game winner early into the extra period on Wednesday night as the hometown Glanbrook Rangers defeated the Niagara Riverhawks 5-4. The victory was the fourth straight for the Rangers who are now 4-0 on the season.

After a scoreless period the Niagara Riverhawks got on the board first early in the second period. After the power play goal put Niagara up 1-0 the Rangers responded with back to back power play goals late in the period. Michael Fortino netted a power play maker at 15:43 followed by Mathew Rimac at 18:15.

Carter LeRoux closed out the period for Niagara with a tying goal at 19:17 of the second.

By the midway mark of the third period Niagara had retaken the lead and held a 4-2 lead into the final minute of regulation, but the Rangers stepped up the pressure.

Connor Maitz found the back of the net at 19:13 of the third period followed up seconds later by Josh Pace with the game tying goal at 19:34 of third.

Garnet Batrynchuk would light the lamp at 3:32 of overtime to seal victory for Glanbrook.

Glanbrook will host the Grimsby Peach Kings from Glanbrook Arena next Wednesday night at 7:30pm.
