GOJHL: More Woes for the Warriors

The Stoney Creek Warriors returned home to Valley Park Arena Saturday night looking to end their losing streak with a much needed victory, but tonight would prove not to be that night as the St. Catharines Falcons won the game 7-1.

Stoney Creek came out with strong right out of the gate putting on the pressure the first period, out-shooting the Falcons 12-7. The persistence would off late in the period as Mike Casale took advantage of a Falcons slashing penalty and put one in the net at 18:43. Roger Sherwood and Myles Falasca, who added to his team leading twenty-five points, picked up assists on the goal.

The Stoney Creek Warriors took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but it would be the end of good news for the battered home team.

St. Catharines scored five goals in the second period and another two goals in the third.

The loss marked another defeat for the Warriors at Valley Park Arena, who have lost their last four game and are winless at home this season. Stoney Creek are currently tied for last place in the conference with Fort Erie, who also lost Saturday.

Stoney Creek’s win-loss record after the defeat sits at 5 wins and 15 losses.

The Warriors will look to turn things around on Friday night as the team travels to Port Colborne to take on the Pirates. Game time is 8pm.
