The Hamilton Cardinals announced on Tuesday the signing of Left Handed Pitcher Clay Miller.
Clay pitched in three games throwing nine innings with an ERA of 1.00 with 15 Strikeouts with the Burlington Herd (IBL) last year before an arm injury ended his season. Before coming to the IBL, Clay went 8-0 with 66 strikeouts in 68.1 innings with an ERA of 3.03 with Tucson of the Peco’s League.
“Clay will be a great addition to our pitching staff, and will fit in with our clubhouse,” stated Cardinals General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. “This year’s Cardinal team has made a few changes to improve depth and added some very good key players, but we also managed to keep our core players. I have seen a huge improvement this winter during in-doors with those guys. They have been working harder than they ever have to make the team better. It’s a testament to them.”
Clay was originally a 35th round pick for the Kansas City Royals in the 2013 June Amateur Draft.
Miller is also excited for the upcoming baseball season. “I can’t wait to be a Cardinal and play for a chance at the IBL crown”.
The Cardinals home opener is set for Friday, May 17th at 7:30pm against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
