Hamilton edges Dundas in opener

Josh Ranallli ‘s high shot over the shoulder of Dundas Real McCoys goaltender Mike Mole was enough to seal the deal for the Hamilton Steelhawks as they edged Dundas 3-2 in Allan Cup Hockey action last night in the JL Grightmire Arena.

The loss spoiled the return of the McCoys to Dundas for the first time in two seasons.

The McCoys now have a record of one win, one loss and one overtime loss. Dundas is now preparing to travel to Hamilton on Friday, November 8th to play the Steelhawks in the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to tonight’s Dundas Sports Wall of Fame Game, five new Inductees were introduced to the fans in attendance: Steve Aglor, Bob Myers, Nick Genovese, Helmut Classen, and Deborah Lee Eldridge.

The Real McCoys also paid tribute to long-time statistician Mike Dyer, and former player David Aussem, both of whom recently passed away. Dyer was an integral part of the organization for the past 19 seasons during which time he only missed two games and attended every team practice. He was meticulous statistician.

The McCoys got single goals from Cam Watson and Dan LaPointe as Charlie Stephens set up both scoring plays. Dan Brewer and Simon Mangos had one assist each. For Hamilton, Paul Zanette and Kris Newbury scored once each with Brandon MacLean, Joe Tolles, Chris Leveille, Bryan Mcgregor and Bryan Cameron drawing the assists.
