Hamilton Smash 16U Teal Win Silver

The Hamilton Smash 16U Teal team recently competed at the Ontario Volleyball Association Championship tournament in Kitchener and came away with the silver medal.

During the morning round of pool play, they defeated South County Black (25-15, 23-25, 15-6) and London Volleyball Club (LVC) Fire 15U Intensity (25-14, 16-25, 15-6), resulting in first place heading into afternoon playoffs. During the playoff round, they faced strong competition from SKY Volley out of Windsor, eventually topping them in three sets (26-24, 24-26, 15-7).

This moved them onto the semi-final round where they faced the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators 15U Invasion, who they beat in straight sets (25-11, 26-24).

The gold medal match saw Smash facing a strong opponent, the Forest City Volleyball Club, who they ultimately lost to in two sets (25-15, 25-21), resulting in a silver place finish for the day.

Team members include: Coach T. Caputo, C. Yamnyuk and M. Morphet (Ancaster), E. Tang and M. Curtis (Hamilton Mountain), M. Madronich (Dundas), A. Fitzgerald and J. Fox (West Hamilton), M. Duffy (Oakville), N. Woelk and S. Woelk (St. Catherines), and Coach C. Genovy (Stoney Creek).
