Honey Badgers drop third straight

The CEBL season is a short twenty games so, while a three game slump in most leagues isn’t a big deal, three straight losses can start to feel like a big deal. Just look at the Fraser Valley Bandits, who came away with the win on Saturday afternoon in the Hammer. The visiting Bandits started off the season with nine straight losses which put them at the bottom of the standings in a hurry. But since then the Bandits are on a winning streak, a three game winning streak to be exact. So while Hamilton’s three game skid can be discouraging there’s still plenty of ball left to play in the season.

The Fraser Valley Bandits defeated the Hamilton Honey Bandits 100-82.

Hamilton started the game off slowly and never really got their groove back, though the second half was much better than the first. The Honey Badgers couldn’t seem to get a bucket to drop in key moments and they were just 36% from the floor, both in field goals and three-pointers. The Bandits on the other hand had strong ball movement and seemed to catch the black and gold flat footed at times. More than a handful of times a series of quick passes found a Bandit wide open beyond the arc, who finished the play with an easy three.

Fraser Valley was 40% from three point land and nearly 60% from the floor.

Sampson Carter was the Honey Badger player of the game with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Joe Rocca had 17 points and Ricky Tarrant Jr. had 15 points. Demetrius Denzel-Dyson, who led the Honey Badgers in minutes, had 12 points.

With the loss the Hamilton Honey Badgers drop to 7-6 on the season while Fraser Valley improves to 3-9. With a win tonight the Edmonton Stingers take sole posession of second place in the league with a 8-4 record.

Hamilton will play their next two games on the road with a visit to Saskatchewan next Friday night at 9:00pm ET. They will return home to the FirstOntario Centre on Sunday, July 21st at 4:00pm ET when they host the Edmonton Stingers.
