Hamilton Honey Badgers’ guard Duane Notice has been sidelined for the rest of the Summer Series with a torn Achilles tendon. The injury took place during ELAM time in Hamilton’s 88-82 loss to the Edmonton Stingers on Wednesday night.
Notice will undergo surgery to address the injury and will be sidelined indefinitely.
“Duane Notice is the spiritual leader of our team, so losing him removes a key competitor for us on the court, but also a respected leader on the floor, in the lockerroom, and in meetings,” said Hamilton general manager Jermaine Anderson. “Duane is a man of strong faith, a tremendous work ethic, and the heart of a champion. We will do everything in our power to assist him in his rehabilitation, and we look forward to seeing him back on the basketball court when he feels he is able to return.”
In a statement posted on Notice’s Instagram account on Thursday, Notice thanked all of the fans for their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes over the last few days. “I will be doing all i can to overcome this obstacle,” he said in the Instagram post. “The road to recovery begins here. I want to thank the Hamilton Honey Badgers organization and the CEBL for the amazing opportunity in this Summer League, and I endeavor to work hard to come back stronger. Take Notice.”
The Honey Badgers announced on Friday that they have added Caleb Agada to the line up. The Burlington, Ontario native played two game for Hamilton last season and averaged ten points per game.
