Demetrius Denzel-Dyson had 22 points on the night including three from beyond the arc as the Hamilton Honey Badgers downed the visiting Guelph Nighthawks 102-96 on Wednesday night. The victory was the third in a row for the Honey Badgers who are starting to find their groove in the CEBL as the black and gold improve to 4-2 on the season and second place in the league. Hamilton sits behind the league leading Niagara River Lions who are 5-1.

The Hamilton Honey Badgers played their second back to back game at home from the FirstOntario Centre coming of back-to-back wins over the Fraser Valley Bandits. The visiting Guelph Nighthawks were on a two game skid after dropping back to back games to Niagara and Edmonton.

The Honey Badgers got the game going on the right foot from the get go taking a 12 point lead by the end of the first quarter. Hamilton wouldn’t relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game, though Guelph put on the pressure late in the fourth quarter and brought the game within seven.

Justin Edwards drained 20 points on the night and was 80% from the floor and 1 for 3 behind the 3-point line. Ryan Ejim had ten points and team captain Mike Fraser had 9 points. Joe Rocca hit 5 of 7 two-pointer attempts from the floor and was 2 for 4 beyond the line for a total of 16 points.

Next up Hamilton will head down the QEW to challenge the league leading Niagara River Lions on their home court. Tip off is set for 7:00pm ET on Saturday night. The Honey Badgers will then return home to the FirstOntario Centre next Wednesday when they will host the River Lions. That game is also set for 7:00pm ET.
